Overview
The Certified QHSE Fellow® (CQHSE-F®) is the pinnacle of the QHSE Association’s certification framework. It’s reserved for veteran QHSE professionals who have demonstrated exceptional, sustained, and impactful contributions to the QHSE profession, whether globally or nationally, by profoundly influencing policy, research, or industry standards.
Our objective with the CQHSE-F is to formally recognize and honor individuals who have achieved significant excellence and made lasting contributions that have tangibly advanced the QHSE profession as a whole.
Upon earning this prestigious recognition, you’ll embody and continue to demonstrate:
- The capacity for high-level governance, strategic advisory, and providing expert consultation on the most complex QHSE challenges.
- A significant contribution to the body of QHSE knowledge, evidenced through impactful publications, groundbreaking research, or the innovative design of QHSE systems.
- Leadership and influential participation in national or international QHSE bodies, regulatory committees, or standard-setting organizations, shaping the future of the profession.
- A commitment to mentorship and the development of future generations of QHSE leaders, leaving a lasting legacy in the field.
This fellowship represents the ultimate achievement in the QHSE profession, acknowledging exceptional individuals who have truly shaped and elevated the field through their expertise and dedication.
Requirements
Achieving the esteemed Certified QHSE Fellow® (CQHSE-F®) recognition involves a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process:
Qualification Prerequisites:
- Certification Pathway: You must hold either the Certified QHSE Manager® (CQHSE-M®) or the Certified QHSE Trainer® (CQHSE-T®) certification.
- OR Experience Pathway: Alternatively, you can qualify with a minimum of ten (10) years of documented full-time experience in a senior QHSE leadership, advisory, or highly influential role. A significant portion of this experience must be at a strategic or thought leadership level, demonstrating broad impact.
- Portfolio Submission (Mandatory): You are required to submit a comprehensive, peer-reviewed professional portfolio that convincingly demonstrates your significant and sustained impact on the QHSE profession. This portfolio may include:
- Major publications (e.g., books, peer-reviewed journal articles, significant white papers).
- Evidence of the development and widespread adoption of new QHSE methodologies, technologies, or industry standards.
- Documentation of proven leadership roles in national or international QHSE professional bodies, or significant contributions to policy and regulatory development.
- Records of leadership in major projects that resulted in demonstrable, positive QHSE outcomes.
- Evidence of mentorship and your efforts in fostering professional growth in others within the QHSE field.
- Nomination: Your application must be supported by a nomination from two (2) existing Certified QHSE Fellows® or highly recognized senior industry leaders, coupled with supporting testimonials that attest to your contributions.
Assessment Process:
- The evaluation involves a rigorous portfolio review conducted by an independent panel of leading QHSE experts, followed by an invitational panel interview where you’ll discuss your contributions and vision for the profession.
Certification Validity:
- The Certified QHSE Fellow® (CQHSE-F®) status is awarded for lifetime, subject to ongoing adherence to the QHSE Association’s Code of Professional Ethics.
Renewal Requirements:
- As a lifetime recognition, traditional renewal requirements are not applicable. However, continued engagement with the profession, mentorship activities, and unwavering adherence to ethical standards are expected and highly encouraged for all Fellows.

Application & Conferral Process
The journey to becoming a Certified QHSE Fellow® is a prestigious recognition of your significant contributions to the profession.
1. Apply Online & Submit Portfolio: You can initiate your application for this esteemed recognition at any time by selecting the ‘My Profile’ portal located in the top right-hand corner of any QHSEA.ORG webpage. Simply create your account and submit your comprehensive professional portfolio along with supporting documents.
2. Application & Portfolio Review: The QHSE Association will conduct a rigorous portfolio review by an independent panel of leading QHSE experts. This in-depth evaluation assesses the scope and impact of your contributions to the profession. Should your portfolio meet the high standards, you will be invited for a formal panel interview.
- Application & Portfolio Review Fee: A non-refundable fee of $500 USD is required upon application. This covers the extensive evaluation process by the expert panel.
3. Panel Interview & Conferral: Following a successful portfolio review, you will participate in an invitational panel interview where you will discuss your contributions and vision for the QHSE profession. Upon successful completion of all assessment stages, you will be officially recognized and awarded the Certified QHSE Fellow® status.
- Fellowship Conferral Fee: Once accepted, a conferral fee of $1,500 USD is required to finalize your Certified QHSE Fellow® status and receive your lifetime recognition.
4. Maintaining Your Esteemed Status: The Certified QHSE Fellow® (DQHSE-F®) status is awarded for lifetime, representing the pinnacle of achievement in the QHSE profession.
- No Annual or Renewal Fee: As a lifetime recognition, traditional annual maintenance or periodic renewal fees are not applicable.
- Continued Engagement: While no formal requirements exist, continued engagement with the profession, mentorship activities, and unwavering adherence to the QHSE Association’s Code of Professional Ethics are highly expected and encouraged for all Fellows.
